Summary: The Automation Test Lead will play a crucial role in the Functional Testing team within the Payments Settlements department, focusing on the automation of testing for critical national payments systems. This position is a fixed-term contract ending in December 2026, offering flexible working arrangements. The successful candidate will leverage their extensive automation experience to enhance testing processes and ensure high-quality outcomes. The role emphasizes collaboration and continuous improvement in a dynamic environment that supports the Australian economy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate high proficiency in the technical analysis of applied automation for testing complex and integrated business domains.
  • Plan and execute automated functional testing related deliverables across various test levels.
  • Develop and maintain testing artefacts including progress reporting.
  • Ensure consistent application of testing standards, practices, processes, and tools.
  • Drive quality improvements in testing and foster a quality mindset within the team.
  • Deliver project quality and contribute to system enhancements for improved usability and business experience.
  • Participate in the upkeep of UAT test environments and validate patches applied when required.
  • Improve test automation footprint across applications, test types, and levels.

Key Skills:

  • Extensive experience in automation using Selenium-Java and proven delivery of test automation frameworks.
  • Overall eight years of experience in test automation.
  • Experience with Cucumber - Serenity framework and testing APIs is highly desirable.
  • Hands-on experience with build tools (e.g., Maven), source control management tools (e.g., Git Lab, SVN), and continuous integration tools (e.g., Azure DevOps, Jenkins).
  • Proven experience in planning, support, and testing of functional changes to mission-critical systems.
  • Experience in payment, clearing, and settlement systems is desirable.
  • Knowledge of Waterfall and/or Agile methodologies and Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery processes.
  • Experience with defect and test management tools such as JIRA, ALM, Qmetry.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for collaboration and communication with stakeholders.
  • Degree in IT, business, finance, or relevant discipline.
