Summary: The Automation QA Engineer role involves supporting quality assurance operations for a major European energy company's digital trading operations. The position focuses predominantly on automation testing while also incorporating some manual testing. The engineer will be responsible for enhancing trading workflows and IT change management processes within a high-performing development team. This contract role is inside IR35 and requires a presence in Central London two days a week.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee quality assurance operations for digital trading platforms.
- Enhance end-to-end trading workflows and IT change management processes.
- Conduct predominantly automation testing with some manual testing for the Front End.
- Act as the sole QA professional for a high-performing development team.
- Manage governance, change management, and information security responsibilities.
Key Skills:
- Experience in Commodity Trading, preferably in Metals.
- Strong automation experience with Specflow, ReqnRoll, and Playwright.
- Good experience with SQL for data mapping and data flow testing.
- Understanding and experience with Python.
- Desirable experience in software engineering (SDET) with a focus on testing.
Salary (Rate): £650 daily

A major European energy company is looking to hire a QA Engineer to support the quality assurance operations for their digital trading operations.
As a QA Engineer, you will be the dedicated QA professional for a high-performing development team responsible for commodity trading operations. You will oversee multiple platforms that serve external clients, internal trading tools, and overall trading functions.
Your primary objective is to enhance end-to-end trading workflows and IT change management processes.
This role is predominantly automation (80%) with some manual testing for the Front End (20%).
Day rate: 650 Inside IR35
Hybrid: 2 days per week to Central London
Requirements:
- Must have experience working within Commodity Trading (Preferably Metals)
- Strong automation experience with Specflow, ReqnRoll and playwright
- Good experience with SQL (data mapping and data flow testing)
- Good understanding and experience with Python
- Willingness to be the sole QA for a high performing team and the wider cope of responsibilities (governance, change management, info security)
- Desirable experience of software engineering (SDET) but heavier focus on testing
