Automation Engineer Platform support

Automation Engineer (Platform Support) to help innovate and streamline infrastructure operations through automation. The ideal candidate will have a systems administration background with hands-on experience in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) ? specifically Terraform and Ansible ? and a passion for improving manual processes through scripting and automation.
You?ll join a small, collaborative team working closely with a Principal Engineer and vendor partners to integrate and enhance the client?s Terraform and Ansible environments. This is a highly visible role where you?ll balance light operational support with significant innovation and automation initiatives.

Responsibilities:
? Manage and maintain the Terraform and Ansible Automation Platform environments, including handling incoming requests (approx. 10?20% operational).
? Drive automation initiatives that integrate Terraform and Ansible for streamlined infrastructure deployment and management.
? Partner with infrastructure and application teams to identify manual processes suitable for automation.
? Collaborate with vendors and internal teams to implement new IaC solutions and continuous improvement practices.
? Participate in upcoming projects to upgrade Ansible on-prem and deploy Ansible into AWS and Google Cloud Platform environments.
? Document designs, workflows, and standard operating procedures.
? Support a ?show and tell? culture by presenting automation solutions and demonstrating improvements to other teams.
? Contribute to the organization?s cloud transformation by helping migrate legacy on-prem infrastructure to the cloud.

Minimum Qualifications
? Strong experience with Terraform (preferably Terraform Cloud) and Ansible Automation Platform.
? Understanding of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles and DevOps methodologies.
? Proficiency in at least one scripting language, preferably Python.
? Familiarity with Git for source control and versioning.
? Experience in Unix/Linux (RHEL) environments.
? Strong communication and collaboration skills ? comfortable working both independently and in cross-functional teams.
? Experience troubleshooting, monitoring, and documenting infrastructure automation.

Preferred Qualifications
? Experience with Dynatrace for monitoring.
? Prior exposure to AWS and Google Cloud Platform (Google Cloud Platform); Azure familiarity is a plus but not required.
? Experience with on-prem Terraform/Ansible deployments and migrations to the cloud.
? Familiarity with IDP platforms such as Harness or Backstage.
? Proven history of innovation ? taking manual processes and scripting or automating them for efficiency.
