Summary: As an Automation Engineer (L2) based in Newcastle Upon Tyne, you will tackle system-level hardware and software challenges within advanced robotics systems, focusing initially on Robotic Standard Automation technology. Your role will involve troubleshooting, optimizing performance, and ensuring seamless technology integration. You will also be responsible for maintaining control systems and providing user support. This position requires a blend of technical expertise and practical experience in robotics and system maintenance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain, troubleshoot, and perform routine maintenance on control systems to ensure effective operation.
- Work with innovative robotics systems to resolve system-level issues across both hardware and software.
- Monitor control systems using Python or Ladder logic.
- Support Windows and Linux (Ubuntu, Debian) servers and resolve configuration or device driver issues.
- Create and maintain technical guides, user manuals, system specifications, and test reports.
- Use tools such as Ansible, Git, and Dell OpenManage to maintain and deploy infrastructure.
- Plan and carry out regular QA activities on all hardware according to the operational plan.
- Provide technical instruction and training to end-users on system use.
Key Skills:
- 3+ years of progressive experience in system server and network support.
- Ability to read and troubleshoot ladder logic, PLC programs, and control circuit devices (sensors, cameras, solenoids).
- Working knowledge of Yaskawa GP7 robot systems programming and troubleshooting.
- Ability to analyze and repair belt shafts, drives, and gear reducers.
- Knowledge of protocols like VPNs and VLANs with experience in cross-vendor hardware (Cisco/Meraki, Unifi).
- Proficiency in Python, PowerShell, and/or Bash.
- Experience with AWS CloudWatch, Docker, KVM, and Prometheus/Grafana is highly valued.
