Summary: The Automation Engineer will be responsible for commissioning controls systems for a new automation line as part of a global program focused on updating materials handling automation systems. This role involves troubleshooting with remote software experts and collaborating with electrical and mechanical installation vendors. The position is a PAYE contract for 6 months, with potential for permanent employment, and requires travel across Europe. Daily reporting on progress is also a key expectation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Commissioning of controls systems for a new automation line.
  • Troubleshooting issues with support from remote software experts.
  • Interacting with electrical and mechanical installation vendors and site stakeholders.
  • Providing daily reports on progress.
  • Completing the ADTA commissioning procedure, ensuring schedule and quality.
  • Staying on-site for up to 2 weeks (night-shift) for initial launches to support operations.

Key Skills:

  • Qualification (Degree/Other) in Industrial Automation.
  • Advanced technical expertise in industrial automation systems (TIA Portal 16+, Codesys 3.5, HMI, VFDs, Profinet, IO-Link).
  • Proficiency in programming and configuring with TIA Portal 16+.
  • Proficiency in Codesys 3.5 (preferred) or knowledge of Siemens PLC/TIA.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities for complex systems.
  • Hands-on experience with camera systems and Linux OS (preferred).
