Summary: The Automation Engineer role focuses on the Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) phase for an Oil & Gas project, requiring a strong background in Aramco projects. The position is based in Leatherhead, with a minimum of four days a week in the office, and is offered as an initial 12-month contract. The role is likely to be outside IR35, pending a final assessment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop specifications for control systems in accordance with Aramco standards.
  • Contribute to the development of control system design deliverables, including support for P&IDs and Instrument Lists.
  • Collaborate with client counterparts and vendors to develop minimum requirements for control systems and interfaces.
  • Support risk assessments such as Safety Integrity Level (SIL), Layer of Protection Analysis (LOPA), and Hazard and Operability Study (HAZOP).
  • Prepare ICSS technical requisitions and conduct bid evaluations.
  • Assist in the development of Process Control narratives and Cause and Effect diagrams.
  • Demonstrate working knowledge of IEC 61508 & IEC 61511.
  • Perform assigned automation-related job functions, including the creation of I/O lists.
  • Interface with electrical systems and MCC to develop necessary I/Os.
  • Work closely with the Process Design and Project Teams to ensure successful execution of project studies.
  • Experience in Brownfield onshore projects is preferred.
  • Experience working with multiple centres.

Key Skills:

  • Experience in automation engineering, specifically in Aramco projects.
  • Strong knowledge of control systems and design deliverables.
  • Familiarity with risk assessment methodologies (SIL, LOPA, HAZOP).
  • Technical documentation and evaluation skills.
  • Knowledge of IEC 61508 & IEC 61511 standards.
  • Ability to interface with electrical systems and MCC.
  • Experience in Brownfield onshore projects.
  • Collaboration and communication skills for working with clients and vendors.
