Automation Engineer

Summary: The Automation and Observability Engineer role is focused on enhancing data protection and system reliability within a global financial services environment. The position involves automating processes and improving observability solutions while collaborating with internal and global teams. The contract is for 12 months with potential extensions, and the pay rate is up to £500 per day. The role requires strong technical skills in automation and observability, particularly with Python and related technologies.

Key Responsibilities:

• Work closely with internal teams to automate processes and improve alerting/observability solutions.
• Focus on enhancing the reliability of the data protection environment through automation or improved observability.
• Address complex technical issues, providing innovative solutions to accelerate service resumption.
• Collaborate with global teams and communicate effectively across varying technical specializations.

Key Skills:

• Strong automation and observability experience with Python, PyKit (Perl/PowerShell a plus).
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins), Git, and technologies like Prometheus, Grafana, and Ansible.
• Experience with REST APIs and debugging complex issues beyond documentation.
• Background in systems administration (UNIX/Windows) and knowledge of backup technologies (Veritas NetBackup is a bonus).
• Excellent communication and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks.

Salary (Rate): £500 daily
