Summary: The Automation Engineer role involves supporting the design, development, and integration of vehicle charging systems within the Powertrain Electrification division. The position emphasizes both hardware and software components of onboard charging systems and their interaction with electric drive elements. The engineer will lead the development of onboard chargers and collaborate with various teams to ensure system-level integration and compliance with automotive safety standards. Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the development and integration of onboard chargers (OBC) and charging control systems within the PED architecture.
- Collaborate with e-motor, inverter, and HV battery teams to ensure seamless system-level integration.
- Develop and validate control strategies for AC and DC charging, including communication via ISO 15118, DIN 70121, and IEC 61851.
- Ensure system compliance with automotive safety standards (e.g., ISO 26262) and functional requirements.
- Conduct system-level testing and support vehicle-level validation for charging functionalities.
- Interface with suppliers and internal teams for component selection, specification, and validation.
- Support diagnostics and fault handling strategies related to charging systems.
Key Skills:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s in Electrical/Electronics/Mechatronics Engineering.
- 3+ years of experience in EV charging systems, powertrain electrification, or similar roles.
- Strong understanding of EV powertrain architecture and high-voltage systems.
- Familiarity with charging communication protocols (ISO 15118, PLC, CAN, LIN).
- Experience with MATLAB/Simulink, CANoe, or diagnostic tools is a plus.
- Working knowledge of automotive development processes (ASPICE, V-model, etc.).
