Summary: The Automation Engineer role involves programming, configuring, and optimizing Siemens PCS 7 control systems specifically for batch processing applications. The position requires extensive experience in batch process automation and the ability to collaborate effectively with process engineers and project teams. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong troubleshooting skills and a commitment to compliance with industry standards. This role is based in Cheshire and offers a flexible working arrangement of on-site up to three days per week.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, configure, and commission Siemens PCS 7 control systems for batch processing applications.
- Design, implement, and troubleshoot PCS 7 Batch automation solutions.
- Work closely with process engineers and project teams to ensure seamless integration of automation solutions.
- Modify and optimise existing PCS 7 control systems for improved efficiency and reliability.
- Provide support during system commissioning, testing, and validation phases.
- Ensure all automation systems comply with relevant industry standards and regulations.
- Document automation processes, software changes, and technical specifications.
Key Skills:
- Extensive experience in Siemens PCS 7 programming, including Batch process automation.
- Strong knowledge of automation control strategies, software architecture, and HMI/SCADA development within PCS 7.
- Experience in process industries, such as pharmaceuticals, chemicals, or food & beverage.
- Ability to interpret P&IDs, functional design specifications, and control narratives.
- Familiarity with GAMP, GMP, and 21 CFR Part 11 compliance (preferred but not essential).
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
