Summary: The role of Automation Developer involves providing technical leadership within the Land Registration Automation team for a prestigious public sector organization. The position requires transforming research into a production-grade automation service utilizing OCR, NLP, and machine learning. The developer will work in a hybrid environment, attending client offices in either Edinburgh or Glasgow weekly, and will collaborate closely with internal teams to ensure the scalability and quality of solutions. This is a 6-month contract position classified as outside IR35, offering a daily rate of £525.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, build, and maintain automation services using AWS serverless architecture.
  • Develop components for OCR, NLP, signature detection, and title change prediction.
  • Turn R&D prototypes into reliable production solutions.
  • Analyse and improve system performance through robust data analysis.
  • Provide high-quality operational support, troubleshooting issues across multiple platforms.
  • Collaborate in Agile teams using modern engineering practices such as pairing, mobbing, and XP techniques.
  • Mentor and support colleagues, sharing knowledge and best practices.

Key Skills:

  • Proven commercial experience with OCR, NLP (SpaCy), and ML techniques.
  • Strong AWS skills (CDK, Lambda, S3, API Gateway, CloudFormation, Aurora/Postgres).
  • Proficiency in Python and TypeScript.
  • Experience designing and implementing serverless, service-based architectures.
  • Strong communication skills to explain complex technical topics to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Familiarity with cloud monitoring and telemetry tools (e.g., Grafana).
  • Agile delivery experience (Scrum, Kanban) and formal XP techniques.
  • Infrastructure-as-code experience.
  • Desirable Skills: AWS AI and OCR services (e.g., Textract), experience with Kubernetes/OpenShift/Docker, PyTorch.

Parity Group are delighted to partner with our client, a prestigious public sector organisation, who are looking to recruit a Developer on an initial 6-month contractual basis. Hybrid working, you will be required to attend client offices in either Glasgow or Edinburgh on a weekly basis. Our client is looking for an experienced and innovative developer to provide hands-on technical leadership within the Land Registration Automation team. You will help transform research into a robust, production-grade automation service, leveraging OCR, NLP, and machine learning to analyse legal documents and accelerate registration processes. Working closely with other internal teams to integrate solutions into the digital registration platforms, ensuring scalability, quality, and maintainability while driving continuous improvement.
