Auditors (4 Fixed-Term Contracts)

Location: Belfast or Remote

Salary: £25 - £29 per hour PAYE (dependent on experience)

Working Pattern: Full-time (37 hours per week) / Part-time considered

Contract Dates

We are recruiting for four Auditor roles with the following contract durations:

  • Auditor (1): Monday 27 April - Friday 26 June 2026
  • Auditor (2): Monday 25 May - Friday 26 June 2026
  • Auditor (3): Monday 25 May - Friday 3 July 2026
  • Auditor (4): Tuesday 5 May - Friday 26 July 2026

About the Role

The Northern Ireland Audit Office is seeking qualified and experienced Auditors to support the delivery of high-quality external audit services. You will play a key role in auditing financial statements, ensuring compliance with relevant standards, and contributing to robust public sector accountability.

Working Arrangements

Hybrid working: up to 5 days per fortnight working from home

Fully remote working will be considered for candidates based outside Northern Ireland

Flexi-time available with core hours:

  • 10:00am - 12:00pm
  • 2:00pm - 4:00pm

Essential Criteria

Applicants must meet all of the following requirements:

  • Full current membership of one of the following professional bodies:
    • Chartered Accountants Ireland
    • Institute of Chartered Accountants in Scotland (ICAS)
    • Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW)
    • Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA)
    • Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA)
    • Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy (CIPFA)
    • Institute of Certified Public Accountants in Ireland (CPA Ireland)
  • A minimum of 2 years' post-qualification experience in the external audit of financial statements
  • (This is an essential requirement and must be clearly demonstrated in your application.)
  • Right to work in the UK

About You

You will be a detail-oriented and analytical professional with strong technical audit skills. You will be comfortable working both independently and as part of a team, managing deadlines, and communicating effectively with stakeholders.
