Summary: The Temporary Audit Technician role involves external auditing for various Welsh public sector bodies, including local government and NHS entities, for an initial period of 12 weeks. The position requires compliance with the Financial Audit Delivery Manual and reporting to an Audit Manager. Candidates will work in a dynamic environment, assisting in planning and executing audits while adhering to WAO standards. AAT level 4 qualification and a strong understanding of the Welsh public sector are essential for this role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the audit team in delivering audits in compliance with the Financial Audit Delivery Manual.
  • Complete audit tasks as part of a larger audit project team, following the instruction of the senior auditor or financial audit lead.
  • Plan, execute, and report on financial and other audit work in a timely manner to WAO standards and within budget.
  • Act as a role model for the values and behaviours of Audit Wales.
  • Occasionally undertake additional tasks as required, commensurate with the role's grade.

Key Skills:

  • AAT level 4 qualification (Essential).
  • Three A Levels or equivalent qualifications (Essential).
  • Strong understanding of the Welsh public sector and related political environment (Essential).
  • Knowledge of audit and accounting standards applicable to the Welsh public sector (Essential).
  • Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Word and Excel (Essential).
  • Excellent numerical, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing multiple audits simultaneously to meet standards and deadlines.
