Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide financial advice to Care Group Managers, Department Heads, and staff on management policy and action implications.
  • Oversee the monthly reporting process and ensure deadlines are met while maintaining high standards in financial systems.
  • Manage and develop the financial management team, including conducting appraisals and providing career development guidance.
  • Monitor and report on financial performance, influencing Care Group Managers to achieve financial targets.
  • Support business planning and contracting processes by analyzing financial data and advising on efficiencies and risks.
  • Lead the annual budget setting process and ensure divisional plans are achievable within allocated resources.
  • Contribute to the development of financial skills among clinical staff to improve clinical quality and operational efficiency.
  • Support key financial returns and liaise with internal/external audits as necessary.

Key Skills:

  • CCAB Professional Accountancy Qualification or equivalent NHS financial management experience.
  • Experience in a finance function and using computerized finance systems, including General Ledger and report writing software.
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Ability to work autonomously and manage team workloads effectively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for advising and influencing staff at all levels.
  • Experience in advising finance and non-finance managers on financial matters.
  • Knowledge of NHS financial regimes, including capital accounting and payment by results processes.
