Summary: The Assistant Project Manager for Heavy Civils at Sizewell C will support the delivery of complex civil engineering projects, focusing on heavy civils and infrastructure. This permanent, full-time role requires on-site presence in Leiston, Suffolk, and involves managing contracts, coordinating contractor staff, and ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards. Key Responsibilities:
- Support the planning and execution of engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning activities
- Assist in managing contracts valued between £250k and £5m
- Help coordinate up to 200 contractor staff and multiple external stakeholders
- Maintain project schedules (Level 3 and 16-week rolling), ensuring alignment with overall project timelines
- Monitor progress, track milestones, and report on schedule, cost, and risk
- Apply Earned Value Management (EVM) and continuous improvement principles
- Ensure delivery of all project deliverables (LOD) and compliance with contractual obligations
- Support stakeholder engagement and maintain effective communication across teams
- Contribute to lessons learned and knowledge-sharing initiatives
- Ensure safety, quality, and regulatory standards are upheld throughout the project lifecycle
Key Skills:
- Experience in civil engineering projects, ideally with exposure to heavy civils (groundworks, earthworks, infrastructure)
- Proven ability to support technically complex projects in regulated environments (e.g., nuclear, energy, infrastructure)
- Strong understanding of project controls, cost management, scheduling, and risk management
- Familiarity with NEC or FIDIC contracts
- Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and organisational skills
- Proficiency in project management tools and methodologies (e.g., EVM, scheduling software)
- Degree in engineering, construction, physics, or a related field
- Chartered status (or working towards) with a relevant professional body
- Knowledge of CDM Regulations
- Project management training (e.g., APM Body of Knowledge, PRINCE2)
- Understanding of nuclear quality assurance and graded quality approaches (desirable)
- Experience in PWR design or operations (desirable)
