Summary: The role of Assistant Solicitor involves providing legal advice and assistance to the Scottish Government's Response Unit concerning the Scottish Child Abuse Inquiry. The successful candidate will prepare and review evidence, brief officials and Ministers, instruct Counsel, and attend hearings. This position is a 5-month contract with potential for an 8-week extension, offering a flexible LTD day rate. The role requires a strong legal background and the ability to manage complex information effectively.

• Provide advice and assistance to the Scottish Government's Response Unit to the Scottish Child Abuse Inquiry
• Prepare and review evidence
• Provide briefing to officials and Ministers
• Instruct Counsel and attend at hearings

Key Skills:

• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build collaborative working relationships
• Ability to manage, analyse and interpret large volumes of information
• Ability to manage workload flexibly to meet deadlines
• Knowledge and experience of litigation and/or Inquiry work
• Law degree and a minimum of 2 years' experience in a similar role
• Scottish qualified Practising Certificate
• Completion of BPSS clearance
