Summary: The Assistant Signal & Telecoms Maintenance Engineer will manage and direct delivery teams within the Signalling & Telecoms department, ensuring effective production, performance, and technical support for the Maintenance Engineering team. The role involves overseeing technicians, monitoring asset performance, providing technical guidance, and ensuring compliance with safety standards. The position requires a strong understanding of maintenance processes and the operational railway environment. The engineer will also be responsible for staff development and maintaining accurate records and systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and direct the Signalling & Telecoms technicians to achieve business and functional objectives and meet key performance measures.
  • Manage development of individuals and the engagement of the team.
  • Manage the arrangements for staff safety and competence.
  • Monitor asset performance, reliability, productivity and efficiency.
  • Provide technical guidance and support.
  • Undertake survey and design work.
  • Manage the assurance and non-compliance process within the delivery unit.
  • Undertake technical inspections and investigations.
  • Maintain the accuracy of systems, databases and records.
  • Review and approve method statements and/or plans for design and/or work activities as required.
  • Undertake an agreed programme of staff surveillance, work quality and asset condition checks.
