About the Role

Our client is seeking a SC cleared Assistant Safety Engineer based at MOD Abbeywood in Bristol, with the flexibility of hybrid working, requiring 3 to 4 days onsite per week.

This is a long-term contract until 31 March 2027, with an immediate start available.

The role offers up to £440 per day (inside IR35) and involves working within a highly regulated environment, managing safety requirements for equipment within the Naval domain.

What You Will Do

  • Develop and manage technical safety requirements and documentation for various sub-systems, ensuring compliance with safety standards and legislation.
  • Support Safety Management Systems and contribute to hazard analysis, risk evaluation, and mitigation activities to support safe, operational systems.
  • Provide expert safety advice during design, testing, verification, and validation processes.
  • Manage safety-related contractual activities and oversee safety performance within projects.
  • Assist in the safe decommissioning and disposal of equipment, ensuring environmental and safety standards are maintained.
  • Contribute to ongoing safety policy and process development to meet Defence standards and best practices.

Who You Are

  • Hold a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics qualification at RQF Level 4 or higher (for example HNC or above).
  • Experienced in providing technical advice and delivering safety systems in complex environments, ideally within Defence or Military sectors.
  • Registered with a relevant professional body, such as EngTech or RSciTech, or possess a minimum RQF Level 6 (e.g. Honours Degree) in a related discipline.
  • Familiar with safety legislation, regulation, standards, and safety management in highly regulated industries.
  • Previous experience with the naval domain is highly desirable.
