Summary: The Assistant Project Manager will support the Project Manager in overseeing a major water infrastructure project in Southampton. This contract role involves managing project staff, coordinating with stakeholders, and ensuring timely project completion within budget. The position requires a strong understanding of project management methodologies and experience in water infrastructure projects. The role is classified as outside IR35.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support the Project Manager in overseeing all aspects of the project, including planning, coordination, and execution of works.
• Manage and supervise a team of project staff, including engineers, site managers, and subcontractors.
• Assist with developing and implementing project plans, risk assessments, and quality management procedures.
• Coordinate with stakeholders, including clients, subcontractors, and regulatory bodies.
• Identify and manage potential risks and issues, proposing solutions and corrective actions.
• Monitor project progress and ensure timely completion within budget.
• Prepare and maintain project documentation, including progress reports, meeting minutes, and financial records.

Key Skills:

• Proven experience working as an Assistant Project Manager or in a similar role within the construction industry, with a strong focus on water infrastructure projects.
• A strong understanding of project management methodologies, such as PRINCE2 or APM.
• Experience working on complex water infrastructure projects, ideally within the AMP7 framework.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively lead and motivate a team.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively under pressure.
