Key Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the production of digital and social clips to support programming.
- Make edit and creative decisions, review performance, and adjust accordingly.
- Proficient in editing on Premiere Pro or willing to learn.
- Understand post-production processes including colour-correcting edits and delivering assets.
- Produce a variety of content including compilations, short-form series, and memes.
- Generate creative ideas and campaigns as required.
- Identify key moments in programmes for effective editing.
- Test and learn from data to improve edits and creative output.
- Work closely with the genre team to meet performance and volume targets.

JOB PURPOSE
The Assistant Producer / Editor is responsible for creating social media video content at scale. It requires knowledge of what works across the content spectrum digitally and on all social media platforms - as well as the ability to deliver volume in edit. They will be creatively responsible for what clips are created to support our TV shows and platforms and drive reach and audiences at scale.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Production
- You’ll be responsible for the production of digital and social clips to support programming for your area.
- You’ll have a chunk of autonomy to make edit and creative decisions, review their performance and adjust accordingly
- You should be proficient in editing on Premiere Pro or have a willingness to learn and build that skill set.
- Must have an understanding of post-production processes including colour-correcting edits, exporting and delivering assets to a variety of technical specifications.
- You’ll ideally have experience producing a wide variety of content - everything from compilations, short-form series, memes and anything in-between.
- You’ll be comfortable working to deadlines and quotas on an ongoing basis.
- Creative
- You’ll be comfortable coming up with creative ideas and campaigns as required.
- You’ll be comfortable and confident that you can identify the key moments in programmes and how best to edit them to appeal to a range of social audiences on different platforms.
- You’ll be keen to test and learn and adjust your edits and creative, based on the data that’s shared with you.
- You’ll be comfortable receiving and giving feedback to constantly improve creative and performance.
- You’re obsessive about Channel 4’s back catalogue of shows and can talk about them in detail.
- You can put yourself into the mindset of a TV show fan, because you are one.
- Performance
- You’ll be creating content, for young audiences, and should know how to make content engaging from the first frame.
- A strong awareness of best practices across multiple platforms is essential.
- You won’t be responsible for reporting, but you should still be interested in results, be able to report them and use results to inform your future work.
- You will work closely with the rest of your genre team to make sure that you’re hitting performance and volume targets for your area.
- You won’t be phased by productivity tools and reporting.
- You will be required to work within the sometimes competing demands of key stakeholders and clients.
- You should be comfortable having discussions with stakeholders across the business – including commissioners, as well as those directly involved in sign off.
ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
Technical & Professional Skills
- Must have a solid understanding of the Adobe Creative Suite and including Adobe Premiere, Photoshop and using templates.
- Experience working in a similar role for a digital media company, in social or digital video teams, and editing content at scale.
- An interest in emerging edit technologies and AI
- Some experience of original content production and shooting (desirable)
- Must have a thorough understanding of processes, workflows, tools and methodologies.
- Must be socially native, with a strong understanding of what content audiences engage with online applying this knowledge to campaigns.
