Summary: The Assistant Engineering Manager will be part of the design and engineering team at Balfour Beatty VINCI, contributing to the HS2 project in the Midlands. This role involves supporting the Engineering Manager in resolving technical challenges, preparing documentation, and coordinating with various stakeholders. The position is based in Coventry and requires a qualified civil engineer with strong communication and organizational skills. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering critical transport infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:
- Resolve technical challenges.
- Review templates of documents for Construction Single Assurance Packs (SAPS) and identify engineering inputs for different asset types.
- Identify construction evidence demonstrating compliance with requirements.
- Coordinate and prepare engineering inputs in a timely manner.
- Review and check documentation prepared by others.
- Attend meetings and support the achievement of Key Dates and Milestones.
- Liaise and coordinate with the BBV Supply chain including Designers Site Support Staff.
- Assist with processing construction non-conformance reports (NCRs).
- Attend Risk Reduction Meetings as required.
- Close risks allocated to the Engineering Manager.
Key Skills:
- Qualified Civil Engineer or equivalent with an understanding of design.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Experience working with a major design consultancy and contractor.
- Highly organized with good management and coordination skills.
- People management skills, effective delegation, mentoring, and coaching.
- Working knowledge of CDM 2015 Regulations.

Current Opportunity: Assistant Engineering Manager Design and Engineering Location: Based in Coventry - the South Region comprises Sublots 2B, 2A and 1A Long Itchington Wood. It stretches for approximately 39.2km from Finham Brook to Southam through a mixture of rural and suburban landscapes
Role Description Work as part of the design and engineering team. Support the Engineering Manager to deliver some or all of the activities and responsibilities defined below: ? resolve technical challenges, ? review templates of documents required for Construction Single Assurance Packs (SAPS) and identify the engineering inputs needed for different asset types (e.g. overbridges, underbridges, culverts, cuttings and embankments etc). Such documentation may include construction and verification certificates, health and safety files, operation and maintenance manuals, as built records, construction compliance certificates, construction safety requirement review registers etc. ? identify construction evidence that demonstrates compliance with requirements ? coordinate and prepare engineering inputs in a timely manner ? review and check documentation prepared by others ? attendance at meetings ? support the achievement of Key Dates and Milestones ? liaise and coordinate with the BBV Supply chain including the Designers Site Support Staff. ? Assist with the processing of construction non-conformance reports (NCRs) on behalf of Design Management Team. ? attend Risk Reduction Meetings as required. ? Essential Experience Qualified Civil Engineer or similar equivalent, with an understanding of design.
