Summary: The Assistant Construction Assurance Specialist in Rail is responsible for ensuring high-quality construction work is completed on schedule by swiftly identifying and resolving issues. The role involves inspecting construction activities, documenting quality assurance processes, and collaborating with various teams to enhance work quality and safety on site. The specialist will also support the Construction Assurance team and liaise with designers and client supervisors to maintain compliance with industry standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Inspecting, recording & documenting construction activities and processes for quality assurance.
  • Inspecting workmanship and quality of delivered works.
  • Recording quality details in accordance with specifications, Inspection & Test Plan (ITP), and Quality Management System documentation.
  • Supporting testing on completed works and liaising with site lab and Quality Manager.
  • Identifying defects and supporting local team in resolving them quickly, including managing Non-conformance Reports (NCRs).
  • Assisting the Construction Assurance team with witnessing and reviewing documents such as ITPs.
  • Producing quality forms and checklists for construction activities.
  • Collaborating with the project team to improve site work quality and maximize production.
  • Liaising with designers and client supervisors.
  • Promoting health and safety on site.
  • Ensuring works are completed to programme.

Key Skills:

  • Experience of heavy civils construction in a rail environment.
  • Holding PTS certification.
  • Good understanding of Specification for Highway works and quality standards in construction and rail industry.

Detailed Description From Employer:

We are looking for an Assistant construction Assurance specialist who can provide swift identification and resolution of issues so that works are completed to a high quality and on programme.

Services shall be delivered in line with a number of NR standards including:

  • NR/L2/RSE/CONM/001 – Construction management for projects
  • NR/L2/MTC/089 – Arrangements for the exchange of asset data and continuing maintenance of assets undergoing change (AMP)
  • NR/L2/P3M/201 – Project acceleration in a controlled environment (PACE)

Services shall include:

  • Inspecting, recording & documenting construction activities and processes for the purpose of quality assurance.
  • Inspecting the workmanship and quality of delivered works.
  • Recording the quality to a suitable level of detail in accordance with the specification, Inspection & Test Plan (ITP) and Quality Management System documentation.
  • Supporting the undertaking of testing on completed works – liaising with site lab and Quality Manager to facilitate in-situ testing.
  • Identifying defects with works, including stopping works where required. Requirement to support local team in resolving defects quickly and effectively (including raising and closing out Non-conformance Reports (NCRs) in line with company procedures when needed).
  • Supporting the Construction Assurance team with witnessing and reviewing documents such as Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs).
  • Supporting the production of quality forms and checklists to facilitate the quality of all construction activities.
  • Working with the wider project team to improve the quality of work on site. Suggesting possible improvements on daily activities and ensuring that production is maximised whilst ensuring quality is maintained at the highest level.
  • Liaising with the designers and client supervisors.
  • Promoting health and safety on site.
  • Helping to ensure works are completed to programme.

The ACAS shall provide evidence that those individuals providing they are competent. This includes:

  • Experience of heavy civils construction in a rail environment
  • Holding PTS
