Summary: The Assistant Company Secretary role at RNLI is a temporary position for up to 6 months, focusing on governance and compliance within the organization. The successful candidate will support the Company Secretary and manage statutory records, meetings, and governance advice. This role requires a blend of independent work and teamwork, with a commitment to the RNLI's mission of saving lives at sea. The position offers a hybrid working arrangement, with an expectation of working in Poole two days a week.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support and deputize for the Company Secretary in meetings.
- Draft and review minutes and provide governance advice.
- Ensure statutory compliance and maintain statutory records.
- Assist in the production and approval of the Annual Report and Accounts.
- Maintain the annual governance and compliance calendar.
- Advise the Chair, Chief Executive, and Executive Team on company secretarial matters.
- Support key Company Secretary projects and manage the AGM and related meetings.
- Assist in the recruitment process of trustee candidates and committee members.
- Monitor legislative changes and maintain governing documents.
- Manage online board portal functionality.
Key Skills:
- Graduate Member of the Corporate Governance Institute or equivalent qualifications.
- 2 years’ Company Secretarial experience or recognized qualifications.
- Expert understanding of governance and company secretarial practice.
- Familiarity with spreadsheets, databases, and board packs.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Comfortable in a fast-paced and challenging environment.
