Summary: The Assistant Commercial Manager role involves supporting pre and post-contract commercial management for medium-value, medium-risk projects within the rail industry. The position requires providing commercial advice, managing procurement activities, and ensuring financial integrity. This is a hybrid role based in Birmingham City Centre, with an initial contract duration of six months. The ideal candidate should possess relevant experience or qualifications and be a strategic thinker in commercial management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide specialist commercial advice, guidance, and recommendations to mitigate risks.
  • Support procurement activities, from estimation to contract closure.
  • Conduct commercial health checks and support customer meetings.
  • Manage the invoice and credit note process.
  • Oversee the minor authority process and manage project close-out effectively.
  • Ensure financial integrity and accurate data collection for Project Leads.

Key Skills:

  • Experience in a generalist commercial environment AND/OR degree in a related field.
  • Ability to work on own initiative and provide solutions over problems in a professional working environment.
  • Effective negotiation skills and industry awareness.

Salary (Rate): 400
