Summary: The Assistant Accountant role is centered on ensuring the efficient execution of daily financial operations, including management reporting, bookkeeping, reconciliations, and payroll support. Reporting to the Finance Manager, the position is crucial for maintaining accuracy in financial processes and contributing to month-end tasks and ad hoc projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Posting daily financial results.
- Preparing daily reports and performing multi-system reconciliations.
- Processing monthly accruals, prepayments, and journal entries.
- Conducting monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
- Maintaining and updating the fixed assets register.
- Assisting with month-end reporting, including preparation of management accounts and monthly business review (MBR) packs.
- Supporting accounts payable processes.
- Assisting with payroll preparation.
- Contributing to ad hoc finance projects as required.
Key Skills:
- A minimum of 2 years of demonstrated experience in an accounting or finance role.
- Proficiency in using accounting software (experience with Sage Accounts is highly desirable).
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Ability to work independently and manage tasks autonomously.
- Proficiency in data management and maintaining accurate records.
- AAT Level 4 qualification or currently studying towards a professional accountancy qualification (e.g., ACCA, CIMA).
- Experience working in a dynamic or commercial environment.
