Summary: The Assessor in Engineering role is essential for overseeing the delivery of work-based qualifications in engineering at a college. The successful candidate will guide and assess candidates, ensuring they meet the standards set by awarding bodies. This position involves conducting assessments, providing feedback, and collaborating with verifiers to maintain quality. The role requires strong interpersonal skills and relevant industrial experience to support candidates effectively.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure candidates receive necessary guidance and resources for work-based qualifications.
  • Organise and conduct on-site assessments using recognised methods.
  • Record assessment decisions and provide feedback to candidates.
  • Collaborate with Internal and External Verifiers to maintain assessment quality.
  • Develop and update learning and assessment plans with candidates.
  • Help candidates meet assessment requirements of the Awarding Body.
  • Review candidates' competence levels and identify steps for achievement.
  • Support candidates with diverse needs during assessments.
  • Participate in relevant training and professional development.

Key Skills:

  • Minimum of 3 years recent industrial experience relevant to the subject area.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, interpersonal, presentation, and negotiation skills.
  • Interest in developing educational resources.
  • Possession of a clean driving licence and use of own vehicle for visits.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • A Level 3 qualification in Marine Boatbuilding or Composites Technology.
  • A1 (D32/33) Assessor award.
  • Degree level qualification in a Marine Engineering-related subject is preferred.
