An exciting opportunity for an ambitious graduate to take on an integral role to an innovative project with a leading business in positioning, navigation and timing solutions. This post has been created as a result of a Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) with Lancaster University s School of Computing and Communications. It offers a 36-month fixed term contract, with a 6,000 dedicated training budget tailored towards your personal development. On completion of a successful project there may be opportunities for on-going employment within the company partner.Forsberg Services Ltd, part of the Teleplan group, specialises in providing world class positioning, navigation and timing (PNT) solutions across a broad range of markets. It does this by developing hardware and software products often based around Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS, GPS) technologies and classical data processing algorithms. Forsberg's customers are professional GNSS users including national and international Defence organisations such as the Ministry of Defence (MOD) in UK and the United States Department of Defence. Other supported sectors are the Emergency Services, marine and land-based surveying and critical infrastructure, mobile telephony and public utilities. To research Forsberg further, please visit Forsberg Services Ltd.As KTP Associate for this exciting KTP, you will lead a project which aims to develop an alternative navigation method to overcome limitations with GNSS navigation, to provide a significant enhancement in UAV navigational accuracy. You will be part of Forsberg s software development team and receive direct support from the Software Development Manager.You will be employed by Lancaster University but will be based at Forsberg s premises in Heysham. You will work closely with and be supported by the senior management team at Forsberg and academics from Lancaster s School of Computing and Communications, principally Dr Uraz Turker and Dr Charalampos Rotsos.Lancaster University is a top-10 university in the UK and in the top-125 in the World. The School of Computing and Communications (SCC) at Lancaster University is a research-intensive department comprising over 60 academics and 170 researchers, with a grant portfolio exceeding 25m from a wide range of sources including EPSRC, Innovate UK, EU and industry. The School is housed in the iconic InfoLab21 building on the University s main campus located in beautiful countryside just outside the city of Lancaster.The novel design of this project, combined with the generous support package and close supervision from both industry and a leading university, make this an exceptional opportunity for you to take a leading role in an innovative project and launch a career in computer science and artificial intelligence. You will be working in a successful business, leading the project through from start to finish, gaining commercial awareness and business skills.Ideally, you will hold a master s or PhD in a relevant field such as computer science, engineering, or mathematics, although consideration will be given to candidates with a bachelor's degree (minimum 2:1) if accompanied by significant relevant work experience. You will already have some experience in areas relevant to the project, such as Al algorithms, computer vision, and sensor fusion; these skills may be demonstrated through your previous study or relevant work experience. Above all, you must be able to take ownership of the project, formulating a clear plan for its successful execution, and making necessary adjustments as the project unfolds. You will need to able to work collaboratively with colleagues at Forsberg and communicate effectively with all levels of the organisation. Additionally, proficiency in project management, report writing, time management, a collaborative outlook and strong interpersonal skills will be essential to the success of the project at all stages.In addition to a competitive salary, the reward package includes an additional 6,000 for your personal development, with time allocated for you to pursue training and learning activities, offering excellent opportunities to further your professional development and support your career progression.
