Summary: The Senior/Lead AI Engineer role is a hands-on contract position focused on designing, building, and deploying enterprise-grade AI systems powered by large language models (LLMs) for an insurance client. The engineer will work on cutting-edge AI solutions, ensuring scalability and reliability while addressing real business problems. This position requires strong technical expertise in AI applications and frameworks. The role is hybrid and expected to start as soon as possible for a duration of six months.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, build, and deploy enterprise-grade AI systems powered by LLMs.
- Work on cutting-edge AI solutions that combine LLMs, RAG, vector databases, and agentic AI.
- Own the orchestration layer to ensure AI systems are scalable and reliable.
- Build production AI applications using LLMs and RAG architecture.
- Develop multi-agent or agentic AI systems using relevant frameworks.
- Implement production APIs and cloud-native applications with strong Python engineering skills.
- Utilize CI/CD, testing, deployment pipelines, and distributed systems.
- Engage in prompt engineering, LLM evaluation, and optimization for latency, cost, and quality.

- Proven experience building production AI applications using LLMs.
- Strong experience with RAG architecture and vector databases.

I'm working with an insurance client looking to bring in a Senior AI Engineer to help build agentic applications. This is a hands on role where you will be designing, building and deploying enterprise grader AI systems powered by LLMs.
The Role
Working on cutting edge AI solutions building production ready systems that combine LLMs, RAG, vector databases and agentic AI to solve real business problems, This is more than prompt engineering - you'll be owning the orchestration layer to ensure AI systems are scalable and reliable.
What we're looking for
- Proven experience building Production AI applications using LLMs
- Strong experience with RAG architecture, vector databases and retrieval optimisation
- Hands on experience building multi agent or agentic AI systems using frameworks such as LangGraph, Claude Agents SDK, Open AI SDK or similar
- Strong Python engineering skills with experience building production APIs and cloud-native applications
- MCP experience
- Experience working across AWS, Azure or GCP
- Knowledge of CI/CD, testing, deployment pipelines and distributed systems
- Experience with prompt engineering, LLM evaluation, observability and optimisation for latency, cost and quality
