Advert Wording We’re Kirklees – Come and Join our team as a Casual Worker We are seeking an experienced and motivated qualified Approved Mental Health Professional to support our teams as and when needed. This is an exciting opportunity to become a casual member of a cohesive and supportive AMHP service in Kirklees.

What you will do… You will provide an important and valued professional function working with some of the most vulnerable people in society. Your professional expertise and approach will ensure individual needs and aspirations are always supported, risk is managed proportionately, and safeguarding is of paramount importance. You will need to have experience of working with the service user group and be able to use your skills to assess risk, promote good practice and the best possible outcome for the person. You will also work closely with other teams and individuals to promote positive change, independence and wellbeing whilst promoting choice and control for adults and carers.

There will be a variety of shifts we may need you to cover in both our daytime AMHP Hub and in our out-of-hours Emergency duty Service. When covering shifts out of hours the primary role and function is to undertake Mental Health Act (1983) assessments and provide emergency adult social care cover for the local authority out of hours. This includes emergency housing, safeguarding, and working with the police in domestic violence and crisis situations. Your professional expertise and approach will ensure individual needs and aspirations are always supported, risk is managed proportionately, and safeguarding is of paramount importance. You will be part of a dynamic, responsive and innovative team with varied tasks and no two shifts are the same.

When covering shifts in the AMHP Hub your primary role will be to undertake all aspects of Mental Health Act 1983 (Amended 2007) work. This will include Mental Health Act assessments and related work across the district (and surrounding areas when needed). Attending professional meetings as required and work with other teams and partner agencies.

What To Expect From Us… You will be working in a supportive team with dedicated individuals who are committed to providing a high-quality service. The work of an AMHP is not always easy, and we understand the importance of taking care of ourselves. We take your wellbeing seriously and have Wellbeing Champions based across Adult Social care who understand when you may need some additional support. As a Kirklees Council AMHP, you will be fully supported by a dedicated team to undertake these complex and demanding roles. The role will involve a blended approach to office and home working to meet the needs of the service and yourself. IT will be provided to ensure comfortable working environments both at home and in the office.

What You Will Need... You will require working knowledge of the Mental Health Act (1983), Mental Capacity Act (2005), Care Act (2014), Human Rights Act (1998) and all other related legislation and Codes of Practice. Alongside this working knowledge you will be able to apply legislation to practice. You must be qualified as an Approved Mental Health Professional. If covering in the AMHP Hub hours will be between 08:45 to 17:15 and for Out of Hours, we operate the following shifts: 16:00-02:00 and 20:00-08:00
