Summary: The role of Approved Mental Health Practitioner (AMHP) involves providing critical support and interventions for individuals in crisis situations, particularly outside of regular office hours. The position is based in the Bury area and requires the practitioner to conduct assessments under the Mental Health Act while responding to safeguarding concerns. The role operates on a rota basis, offering a flexible work schedule with significant time off. Key Responsibilities:

  • The hours for the role are normally worked on a rota basis, and attracts a period of 9 days off every 3 weeks.
  • To provide advice, emotional support and practical interventions to people facing crisis situations outside of day time office hours.
  • To respond to adult safeguarding concerns in accordance with the adult safeguarding procedure.
  • To undertake assessments under the Mental Health Act, 1983, [as amended 2007].

Key Skills:

  • 2-5 years experience of working within a similar social work setting.
  • AMHP qualifications must be up to date to enable you to practice as an AMHP.
  • Diploma/Degree in Social Work.
  • Social Work England registration.
  • Due to the needs of the service the team are looking for an AMHP who lives around 30-40 mins drive from the Bury/Rochdale area.
