Summary: The Apprentice Product Development Chemist role at Yara offers a unique opportunity to gain practical experience in product development while pursuing a BSc (Hons) Chemical Science Degree. The position involves working in a laboratory setting four days a week, with one day dedicated to online studies at Manchester Metropolitan University. Candidates will engage in research, formulation development, and evaluation of raw materials, contributing to innovative solutions in regenerative agriculture. Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry out research and laboratory investigations to develop new product formulations and processes.
  • Evaluate raw materials for use in new and existing products.
  • Progress new formulations from lab scale to full production.
  • Discuss and develop new product concepts and communicate or present accordingly.
  • Study towards BSc (Hons) Chemical Science Degree with Manchester Metropolitan University via tutor-supported e-learning course (part-time over 4 years).
  • Attend residential modules at Manchester Metropolitan University as required.

Key Skills:

  • 3 A Levels (one being Chemistry) equating to a minimum 104 UCAS tariff points.
  • Level 2 English and Maths.
  • Good standard of IT literacy.
  • Good communication skills both written & verbal.
  • Good problem solving skills.
  • An aptitude for practical chemistry.
  • A broad interest in science relating to the chemical industry/fertilisers/agriculture.
