Your Tasks

At EGGER, our Mechanical Fitters produce and assemble machine parts, whilst supporting with commissioning, maintenance and installation of machinery across our site. As an Apprentice, you will undertake a comprehensive 4 year training programme to learn all the tasks required of a member of our Mechanical Maintenance team. You will spend your first year completing off site training (based at SETA in Washington - we provide transport for this) to achieve an apprenticeship standard in Mechanical Engineering, with the following 3 years spent on site supported by day release. During your training you have the opportunity to work towards an HNC qualification.

Our Requirements

For all our apprenticeships, we are looking for self-motivated learners with excellent interpersonal skills as you will be working with a range of departments. You will also need the following:

  • Good standard of secondary education with a minimum of 5 GCSEs grade C / 4 or above, including Maths, English, Science and a GCSE in Technology or Engineering would also be advantageous.
  • Basic standard of IT skills and competent us of Microsoft Products (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Strong interest in Mechanical principles and practice.
