Summary: The role of Appointed Person (Slinger) involves planning and executing lift and fleeting operations across various sites within the Defence & Security sector, specifically focusing on Marine operations. The position requires compliance with safety regulations and collaboration with operators to ensure safe lifting practices. The successful candidate will be responsible for producing lift plans and implementing continuous improvement strategies based on operational feedback. This contract role offers the opportunity to work on high-profile projects in a dynamic environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Planning and safely executing all lift and fleeting operations on Clyde-wide sites.
- Producing lift plans, ensuring they are carried out with appropriate method statements and risk assessments suitable to each individual lift.
- Collaborating closely with operators and leadership levels to ensure compliance with LOLER and BS 7121.
- Complying with HSE law, developing, and implementing continuous improvement plans based on lessons learned from site lifting operations.
- Leading the safe execution by the operations team in all lifting activities to the required standards.
- Ensuring compliance standards are coordinated and embedded across all Clyde sites and shifts.
- Identifying and developing PDR development objectives to support adherence to process and policy.
Key Skills:
- Knowledge of LOLER and BS 7121.
- Experience in producing lift plans.
- Ability to plan, risk assess, and produce method statements.
- Knowledge and experience of overhead and mobile cranes.
- Experience with slinging and fleeting operations.
- Proficiency in computer skills and preferably CAD drawing.
- Fully trained C.PC.S. Appointed Person (A61) blue card.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
