Summary: The Applications Developer role is a maternity cover position reporting to the Application Development & Support Manager, focused on refining application infrastructure and improving processes. The developer will be responsible for technical documentation, application monitoring, and managing data repositories while ensuring data access and security. The role also involves migrating applications to the cloud and enhancing change control applications. Strong communication and collaboration skills are essential for working across multiple teams within the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Refine and simplify application infrastructure and improve clarity of processes.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation.
  • Develop application monitoring and implement alerting systems.
  • Manage and maintain data repositories for operational data.
  • Develop software architecture maps for business clarity.
  • Create and deploy reporting suites for improved application visibility.
  • Provide out-of-hours support for Digital & Technology systems.
  • Ensure access to data and skills for safe information usage.
  • Build learning and knowledge sharing within the team.
  • Migrate key applications to the cloud and archive redundant applications.
  • Work with the OT team to centralize data sources.
  • Enhance change control applications for transparency.
  • Collaborate with performance engineering for accurate data repositories.
  • Develop APIs to improve application development efficiency.

Key Skills:

  • Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Economics, or comparable certification.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience in application development and support.
  • Excellent documentation skills and process mapping.
  • Agile experience.
  • Knowledge in cloud computing and visualization tools.
  • Proficiency in .Net, Powershell, Python.
  • Desirable experience with Visual Basic and Classic ASP.
  • Desirable experience with Azure Logic apps and Power Apps.
  • Strong SQL knowledge.
  • Knowledge of GE’s Historian product is desirable.
  • Team Lead experience is desirable.
