Summary: This role as an Applications Architect in a prestigious global law firm involves leading the selection, design, and delivery of commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) and Software as a Service (SaaS) solutions. The position requires collaboration with various teams to ensure seamless adoption of technologies while maintaining governance and design standards. The role emphasizes modern IT practices and the integration of Microsoft technologies within the legal sector. The contract is for an initial six months with a hybrid working arrangement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as the primary technical lead for new applications and cloud-hosted SaaS projects, providing subject matter expertise to projects, suppliers, and design governance boards.
- Own governance and design of the business enterprise applications portfolio, ensuring adherence to standards, patterns, principles, and non-functional requirements.
- Collaborate with the Strategy & Architecture team to evolve the firm’s technology vision, strategy, roadmaps, and budgeting.
- Champion modern IT practices and keep architectural artefacts (designs, patterns, principles, standards) current and accessible.
- Research emerging software trends and advise on designs for reliable, global deployment to meet business objectives.
- Support vendor selection (RFIs/RFPs), lead technical supplier engagements, and design integrations across COTS, hybrid SaaS, and Microsoft ecosystem solutions.
- Provide consultative expertise on Microsoft 365 (including Exchange and SharePoint) and Azure IaaS/PaaS/SaaS services.
Key Skills:
- Minimum 10 years in IT, with at least 3 years in an architectural role.
- Proven experience within a law firm.
- Strong expertise in Microsoft 365 stack (Exchange, SharePoint) and Azure technologies (IaaS, SaaS, PaaS).
- In-depth knowledge of legal applications (eg, iManage Cloud, SAP SuccessFactors, InTapp suite, Litera products, relevant CRMs).
- Demonstrable experience designing and deploying global COTS/SaaS solutions for geographically dispersed users, including hybrid services like Exchange Online and SharePoint Online.
- Solid understanding of enterprise architecture discipline, integration design across applications, and governance processes (creating/maintaining EA artefacts).
- Experience with supplier/product management, including RFI/RFP processes.
- TOGAF 9 (or higher) certified.
- Azure Solutions Architect Expert certification.
- Microsoft 365 Fundamentals (or equivalent knowledge).
