Summary: The Application Support Analyst role involves providing technical support in production environments, utilizing strong SQL scripting and basic scripting skills. The position requires experience with monitoring tools and incident recovery, focusing on maintaining application performance and reliability. This is a 6-month contract based in Manchester, requiring four days of on-site work each week. The role is offered through PAYE via an umbrella company.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support production environments using monitoring tools and incident recovery.
  • Utilize SQL scripting and basic scripting languages (PowerShell/VBScript).
  • Work with various monitoring tools such as Splunk and AppD.
  • Engage in application recovery of priority incidents with limited support.
  • Collaborate with multi-tier application architecture and web technologies.

Key Skills:

  • Excellent SQL Scripting skills.
  • Knowledge of scripting languages such as PowerShell or VBScript.
  • Experience with monitoring tools like AppD, Splunk, Grafana, etc.
  • Familiarity with Azure and Snowflake technology.
  • Understanding of message queuing systems (e.g., IBM WebSphere MQ).
  • Experience with issue/problem tracking systems such as ServiceNow.
  • Knowledge of common AI tools for troubleshooting and automation.

Responsibility:

Candidates with strong SQL Scripting, basic Scripting (PowerShell/VBScript), and experience supporting production environments using monitoring tools (Splunk/AppD, etc.), ServiceNow, and incident recovery.

*Technical skills:*

  • Excellent SQL Scripting skills
  • Knowledge of any Scripting language such as PowerShell or VBScript
  • Experience of using monitoring tools such as AppD, Splunk, Grafana, Cloudprober, Moogsoft
  • Knowledge of any Scripting language such as PowerShell or VBScript
  • Experience of using Azure and Snowflake technology
  • Knowledge of multi-tier application architecture
  • Experience of web technologies and Internet-based applications
  • Experience of working with Production and Non-production environments
  • Experience of application recovery of priority incidents with limited support
  • Understanding of Message Queuing (ie IBM WebSphere MQ or Microsoft MQ etc.)
  • Knowledge of any issue/problem tracking system such as ServiceNow
  • Common AI tools (eg, Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT, GitHub Copilot) to support troubleshooting, documentation and automation.
