Summary: The Application Support Analyst will be part of a specialist 2nd line support team focused on maintaining and supporting critical business applications within the financial services sector. The role involves investigating incidents, responding to alerts, and collaborating with internal teams and suppliers to ensure system stability and high-quality technical support. The successful candidate will also drive continuous service improvement and manage incident activities effectively. Key Responsibilities:
- Resolve application incidents and service requests within SLA
- Develop deep understanding of applications, databases, and platforms
- Escalate complex issues to 3rd line teams and external suppliers
- Lead and coordinate incident management activities
- Monitor system alerts and proactively mitigate service impacts
- Support production deployments, validation, and post-release activities
- Create and maintain runbooks and support documentation
- Drive continuous service improvement and process optimisation
- Escalate risks, SLA breaches, and high-impact issues
- Identify and address security vulnerabilities
- Follow ITIL-aligned processes for incident, change, and risk management
Key Skills:
- Knowledge of compliance and regulatory requirements within the financial services industry
- Proven experience in application support, ideally in regulated environments
- Experience supporting bespoke or custom-built applications
- Strong SQL and relational database knowledge
- Proficiency with PowerShell, SFTP, and WinSCP
- Familiarity with monitoring tools such as Datadog or similar
- Understanding of security protocols including Entra ID
- Experience with version control tools such as G.i.t
- Strong communication skills across technical and non-technical audiences
- Ability to translate complex issues into clear business language
- Broad technical knowledge across application ecosystems
