Summary: The Application Portfolio Manager role at a leading investment bank in London involves managing the technology relationship between the business and IT, overseeing application ownership, portfolio delivery, and stakeholder management. This senior position requires a blend of technical expertise and strong interpersonal skills to drive project delivery and manage IT budget governance. The role is critical for ensuring effective application lifecycle management and alignment with business needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Own and manage the IT relationship across all locations
- Act as primary point of escalation for IT issues that cannot be resolved through standard channels
- Prepare and chair monthly stakeholder review meetings covering portfolio progress, risks and incidents
- Advise senior management on IT services delivery policy and manage shadow IT risk
- Own the end-to-end lifecycle of major business applications (inception through to decommission)
- Manage vendor contracts, SLAs and service schedules for supplied business applications
- Oversee on-premise and SaaS application implementations in private and public cloud environments
- Act as IT Project Manager and Business Analyst for agreed projects
- Ensure solutions meet business requirements and align to IT architecture, security and infosec policies
- Manage business-requested application enhancements and integrations through to production
- Line manage and develop a team of IT Business Analysts
- Identify and manage resource requirements for projects within agreed budgets
- Ensure Level 1, 2 and 3 support processes are in place and BAU support meets business expectations
Key Skills:
- Demonstrable IT Application Manager / Business Relationship Management role with experience in a financial services environment
- Technical knowledge of CRM application landscapes
- Strong project management skills; Prince2, PMP, APM or substantial practical experience
- Business analysis skills with experience translating business requirements into technical solutions
- Proven vendor management and contract governance experience
- Experience owning and contributing to annual IT budget processes
- Financial services industry background (investment banking or advisory preferred)

Leading, globally recognised investment bank have an immediate requirement for an experienced IT Business Relationship Manager / Application Portfolio Manager.
This role will own the technology relationship, acting as the primary interface between the business and IT. The role carries significant responsibility for application ownership, portfolio delivery, stakeholder management and IT budget governance.
This is a senior, visible role requiring someone who can operate confidently at stakeholder level while retaining the technical depth to own complex application environments and drive project delivery.
