Summary: The role of Application Database Administrator is a fixed-term position within the Risk Systems Data Platform team, focusing on technical programming and database optimization. Key Responsibilities:

  • Ongoing maintenance of database operations, including bug fixes and performance tuning
  • Intraday application-level support of database environments in close relationship with IT Production DBAs
  • Testing and implementation of database hardware migrations
  • Support and assistance to the rest of the team on database-related developments
  • Continual improvements to both database operational and database development efficiency, especially including automation of routine tasks
  • Delivery of business features as per global requirements, including review and costing of user requirements
  • Implement solutions, respecting the team's standards and tools
  • Document implemented functionality: both functional and technical
  • Liaise with other team members (globally) for joint developments
  • Design and/or execute Unit, Integration, System, Performance, Regression and Acceptance tests

Our industry leading investment banking client is looking for an application DBA to join on a 6 month rolling contract inside IR35, with travel into the London office required (hybrid)

Purpose of Job: The role is for a fixed-term (6 month duration) position within the Risk Systems Data Platform team based in London. The role is a technical programming role, focusing on changes to the data model to support functional changes to the application, and the on-going optimisations of the databases. The candidate should have very strong SQL and data modelling skills. The successful candidate will have enthusiasm for learning and working closely with the rest of Data Platform development team and where necessary with the teams in the other development domains. The candidate should expect to implement data model changes, database enhancements, and to contribute to larger projects when required.

Main Tasks and Responsibilities:
