Summary: The Antenatal Screening Support Worker (ASSW) will work under the supervision of registered midwives at the Antenatal Clinic, providing essential support to women entering the antenatal screening pathway. This role involves assisting with care tasks, reinforcing health education, and maintaining high standards of care and safety. The position is a 12-month fixed-term contract covering maternity leave, emphasizing teamwork and communication within a multidisciplinary environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in planning, implementing, evaluating, and delivering care to patients and their families.
• Reinforce health education advice and report any changes in the mother's condition to the registered midwife.
• Perform administrative duties, including collecting maternity notes and ensuring equipment safety and cleanliness.
• Participate in the allocation of care at the team level and assist with training new maternity support workers.
• Support midwives with specific tasks, including venepuncture and assisting during normal deliveries.
• Independently coordinate repeat blood tests and liaise with community midwives regarding appointments.
• Support the Antenatal Screening Coordinator with data collection for Key Performance Indicators.
• Maintain accurate documentation and communication within the Antenatal Screening Team.

Key Skills:

• Healthcare related NVQ, BTEC or equivalent at Level 3.
• National Care Certificate.
• GCSE passes in Maths and English at grade D or above.
• Previous experience in a similar healthcare role.
• Competency/training in venepuncture (desirable).
• Evidence of autonomous working and managing a caseload.
• Championing diversity and understanding of equalities issues.
