Summary: The Analytical Chemist role is a 2-year contract position focused on analytical characterization techniques, particularly chromatographic methods. The successful candidate will engage in sample preparation and analysis, collaborate with teams, and manage projects while solving analytical challenges. This position requires a strong background in chemistry and analytical techniques, with an emphasis on problem-solving and communication skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Sample Preparation & Analysis: utilise chromatographic techniques such as GC and HPLC to prepare and analyse samples.
  • Collaborative Communication: Present and discuss analytical results with relevant teams to ensure project objectives are met.
  • Project Management: Plan, monitor, and control work in collaboration with team leaders while effectively communicating results to stakeholders.
  • Customer Focus: Actively seek relevant information and discuss issues with colleagues across formulation, manufacturing, and synthetic chemistry departments.
  • Creative Problem-Solving: Assess complex situations and generate original solutions to analytical challenges.

Key Skills:

  • A first degree in Chemistry or a closely related subject with significant analytical content. A PhD in analytical chemistry or relevant experience is a plus.
  • Proven experience with analytical techniques for qualitative and quantitative analysis, particularly GC and HPLC.
  • Familiarity with GC-MS, LC-MS, and spectrophotometry is desirable, but not essential.
  • Knowledge of extraction procedures and sample preparation technologies for agrochemicals or similar products.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse audiences.
  • Strong attention to detail, flexibility, and exceptional planning and multi-tasking abilities.
  • Experience working effectively in cross-functional teams, solving common problems with varied methods.
  • A solid understanding of physical and organic chemistry.
