AML Transaction Analysis Consultant

Posted 6 days ago by FincSelect

Please read before applying: this role requires hands-on AML transaction analysis experience and extremely strong Excel skills.

It is not a standard Transaction Monitoring alert-clearing or KYC role.

You must be comfortable analysing large datasets, comparing expected versus actual payment activity and clearly explaining any discrepancies…

Sorry, friends!

We are seeking AML Transaction Analysis Consultants to support a Financial Crime project for a leading international payments bank.

The role will focus on analysing customer payment activity and comparing expected payment flows against actual transactional behaviour.

You will identify unusual patterns, inconsistencies and potential Financial Crime risks, documenting your findings clearly and escalating concerns where appropriate.

You will review complex payment flows involving the bank’s clients, their underlying customers and nested account arrangements.

This will require a strong understanding of correspondent banking, nested relationships and the additional Financial Crime risks created when payment activity involves multiple institutions or customer layers.

A major part of the role will involve extracting, organising and analysing large volumes of transactional data using Excel.

You must be able to turn complex data into clear findings and provide practical, evidence-based conclusions.

Essential experience:

  • Hands-on AML transaction analysis or investigative experience
  • Comparing expected customer activity against actual payment flows
  • Analysing large and complex transactional datasets
  • Strong understanding of correspondent banking and nested account risks
  • Identifying unusual payment patterns, discrepancies and Financial Crime concerns
  • Producing clear, evidence-based analysis and written findings
  • Extremely strong Excel skills, including PivotTables, XLOOKUP, data cleansing and complex formulas
  • Ability to work independently, take ownership and deliver accurate work at pace

Desirable experience:

  • Previous experience within a bank, payments institution or correspondent banking environment
  • Experience analysing cross-border or multi-currency payment flows
  • Knowledge of AML, sanctions, KYC/CDD/EDD and Transaction Monitoring controls
  • Experience working on Financial Crime remediation, review or investigation projects

Please note: this is a data-heavy AML transaction analysis role.

It is not suitable for candidates whose experience is limited to basic Transaction Monitoring alert clearing, KYC file reviews or Excel reporting.
