Summary: The Internal Quality Assurer (IQA) role is a casual position focused on ensuring high standards in the delivery and assessment of Functional Skills Maths and English for a new Alternative Provision in South Tyneside during the 2025/26 academic year. The role involves providing internal quality assurance, conducting assessments, and supporting assessors to maintain compliance with awarding body standards. The ideal candidate will have relevant qualifications and experience in quality assurance within educational settings. This position offers flexible working arrangements and the opportunity to contribute to a new educational environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide internal quality assurance for Functional Skills Maths and English at Level 1 & 2.
  • Conduct sampling, standardisation meetings, and support assessors as required.
  • Ensure compliance with Ofqual and awarding body regulations.
  • Maintain accurate records of IQA activities.
  • Offer constructive feedback and guidance to assessors.
  • Support the provision in achieving high success rates and learner outcomes.

Key Skills:

  • Recognised IQA qualification (e.g., V1, TAQA Level 4, or equivalent).
  • Experience in Functional Skills Maths and English quality assurance.
  • Understanding of alternative provisions, PRUs, SEMH settings, or learners with additional needs.
  • Attention to detail in assessment practices.
  • Enhanced DBS check on the update service (or willingness to obtain one).
