Summary: The Aircraft Fitter (Mechanical) role is a 6-month contract based in Shawbury, Shrewsbury, offering a competitive hourly rate. The position requires candidates with an Aviation Apprenticeship or similar experience, particularly in working with helicopters. The successful applicant will provide engineering support, conduct maintenance inspections, and assist in the day-to-day operations of the aircraft hangar. This role is with a leading Defence and Aerospace company focused on talent development and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide engineering operational support to Flight Operations.
- Accomplish maintenance inspections and repairs as directed by the Shift Supervisor or Certifying Engineer.
- Ensure high standards for the continued safe operation of the aircraft.
- Complete maintenance on airframe structure, power plant, mechanical, and electrical systems according to OEM instructions.
- Conduct off-aircraft mechanical, power plant, component, and composite technical work in workshops as required.
- Assist in the day-to-day running of the aircraft hangar, including aircraft movement and general housekeeping responsibilities.
Key Skills:
- Apprenticeship in Aircraft Maintenance or related discipline.
- Thorough knowledge of engine and airframe systems.
- Knowledge of specialised test equipment relating to engine and airframe systems.
- Understanding of Flight/Airport Operations, Aircraft Line Maintenance, and Aircraft Base Maintenance.
- Knowledge of UK Military Aviation and UK MFTS.
- Familiarity with CAA Part 145 and Part M regulations.
- Experience in Flight Operations and Line Maintenance.
