Summary: The role of Aircraft Course Designers involves creating training materials and supporting course design at DSAE Cosford, West Midlands. Candidates will be responsible for developing Formal Training Statements and Learning Specifications while adhering to Business Continuity principles. The position requires a commitment to ongoing contract work with specific working hours and potential additional stand-down periods. Immediate start is available for qualified individuals with aeronautical engineering course design experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Production of Formal Training Statements (FTS) derived from Role Performance Statements (RPS) for various courses.
- Carrying out training design tasks including Learning Specifications (LSpec), Assessment Specifications, and Learning Materials.
- Familiarity with Business Continuity Plan and immediate response actions.
- Creation of training materials and associated documentation.
Key Skills:
- Aeronautical Engineering Course Design experience.
- Military and/or Civil Aviation Engineering Experience (desirable).
- Working knowledge of the Systems Approach to Training.
- Strong IT systems working knowledge.

Overview:-
You are to make yourself familiar with the underlying principles of Business Continuity and your responsibilities in your sites Business Continuity Plan and any relevant supporting plans. In particular, you are to be familiar with the immediate response actions you are to take on initiation of the site Business Continuity Plan whether during work hours or outside the normal working day.
The requirement is for support within the Course Design space carrying out the duties of Training Design and Development Analyst reporting to OC TDSO(C)
The position will be responsible for the creation of training materials including Formal Training Statements (FTS), Learning Specifications (LSpec) and associated documentation.
Essential:-
Aeronautical Engineering Course Design experience.
Desirable:-
Military and or Civil Aviation Engineering Experience.
Working knowledge of the Systems Approach to Training.
Strong IT systems working knowledge
Key Tasks:-
- Production of FTS’ derived from Role Performance Statements (RPS) for all current and new single Service and Trade specific courses and other courses as required,
- Carrying out Element 2; Stage 2 and Stage 3 training design specifically but not exhaustively LSpecs, Assessment Specifications and Learning Materials.
- This position is an ongoing contract,working 37 hours per week for 44.4 weeks per year. (Due to holiday shut-down periods), for which holiday will accrue to cover the shut-down period (if PAYE). However, there may be additional stand-down for Air-shows where there will not be a need for trainers to be site. which could be a further couple of weeks, this will be discussed in more detail at interview stage.
- Normal working hours are 08.30 – 17.00 Monday – Friday and 08.30 – 16.30 Friday. There are times when candidates are required to work outside of these hours and if this happens they are given time off in lieu.
