AI Governance and Commercial Manager - FinOps
Summary: The role of FinOps Lead focuses on driving the AI strategy within a large organization, emphasizing governance and commercial management of AI investments. This contract position is set for an initial six-month period and requires collaboration with senior stakeholders to ensure AI initiatives deliver value while maintaining transparency. The successful candidate will develop frameworks and KPIs to monitor AI usage and engage in high-level discussions regarding investment decisions. This position is hybrid and classified as inside IR35.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the FinOps strategy for AI across the organisation.
- Develop governance frameworks for AI usage, focusing on financial oversight and consumption policies.
- Analyse AI usage trends across multiple platforms, identifying opportunities and areas for governance.
- Collaborate with Technology teams to understand AI infrastructure costs.
- Evaluate the commercial effectiveness of AI use cases, balancing productivity with operating costs.
- Establish KPIs and dashboards to monitor AI consumption and compliance.
- Engage in executive-level discussions regarding AI investment decisions.
Key Skills:
- Experience in FinOps, Technology Finance, or Commercial Management role.
- Strong understanding of cloud financial management and cost optimisation.
- Stakeholder Engagement/Management.
- Excellent analytical skills - translating complex data into strategic insights.
- Experience in AI or Generative AI programmes (desirable).
- Familiarity with enterprise AI platforms like OpenAI or Azure OpenAI (desirable).
- Knowledge of AI governance principles and risk management (desirable).
