Summary: The role of Agency Family Court Adviser (FCA) involves providing high-quality case analysis and recommendations to the Court in private law proceedings, while engaging directly with children and families. This temporary role is based in either Bournemouth or Portsmouth, with hybrid working arrangements. Candidates must be registered Social Workers with the right to work in the UK.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide high-quality case analysis through Court reports, making clear and robust recommendations to the Court in private law proceedings.
- Engage directly with children and families, ensuring the child's needs, wishes and feelings are central to all work.
- Demonstrate expertise in safeguarding, child engagement, inter-agency working, case planning, and accurate recording.
- Work confidently with parents, relatives, local authorities, and the Courts.
- Prepare and present oral evidence in Court when required.
Key Skills:
- Qualified Social Worker.
- Registered with Social Work England (SWE).
- Enhanced DBS issued within the last 12 months via the submitting agency.
- Right to Work in the UK (no sponsorship available).
- Proven experience of Court report writing.
- Experience of giving evidence in Court.
- Strong understanding of private law proceedings.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Resilient and well-organised with confidence in using IT systems.

Caritas Recruitment is working in partnership with Cafcass to recruit 3 Agency Family Court Advisers (FCA) on a temporary basis to support a defined task/project. These roles will be based from Bournemouth or Portsmouth offices, covering Hampshire & Dorset, with hybrid working arrangements.

The Role
As an Agency FCA, you will:
- Provide high-quality case analysis through Court reports, making clear and robust recommendations to the Court in private law proceedings
- Engage directly with children and families, ensuring the child's needs, wishes and feelings are central to all work
- Demonstrate expertise in safeguarding, child engagement, inter-agency working, case planning, and accurate recording
- Work confidently with parents, relatives, local authorities, and the Courts
- Prepare and present oral evidence in Court when required
This is a demanding role and requires a professional who is resilient, well organised, able to work proportionately, and confident using IT systems, with excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Working Arrangements
