Summary: The role of Agency Highway Engineer involves managing the design and delivery of engineering projects, particularly in urban transport, from inception to completion. The engineer will lead a team, ensuring compliance with CDM regulations while developing innovative design solutions within budget and time constraints. Responsibilities include overseeing construction projects, conducting surveys, and liaising with various stakeholders to ensure effective service delivery. The position requires flexibility to work outside normal hours and access sites beyond the city boundary.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and deliver complex construction projects as per project briefs.
  • Conduct initial, interim, and final surveys and investigations.
  • Complete designs, calculations, specifications, plans, drawings, estimates, reports, and bills of quantities using CAD and other software.
  • Perform site visits to ensure compliance with specifications and safety standards.
  • Prepare and issue statutory notices in accordance with legal requirements.
  • Liaise with statutory undertakers and other departments to manage conflicts and coordinate delivery.
  • Oversee financial and contract management of projects, ensuring timely and budget-compliant delivery.
  • Supervise resources and direct staff in project execution.
  • Interpret and communicate technical information to clients and stakeholders.
  • Implement cost-effective solutions to engineering problems based on current standards.
  • Lead project design teams for high-value construction projects or provide specialist technical designs.
