Summary: The AEO Contractor role is a hands-on position focused on enhancing visibility in AI-powered and voice-based search for a high-growth SME. The contractor will lead SEO and AEO audits, optimizations, and implementations, utilizing various tools to deliver measurable results. This position offers remote or hybrid working arrangements and requires immediate availability for a 3 to 6-month contract. The role emphasizes the development of scalable best practices in technical and content SEO.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct a full SEO and AEO audit, covering technical performance, structured data, and content optimisation.
- Use tools such as SEMrush, Ahrefs, Google Search Console, Google Analytics 4, and Screaming Frog to identify opportunities and track performance.
- Optimise website architecture, structured data, and schema markup to improve visibility in AI search results and featured snippets.
- Support content optimisation for E-E-A-T and entity based search, ensuring relevance across traditional and AI-driven platforms.
- Provide clear reporting, insights, and recommendations on performance, visibility, and growth.
- Document all processes and deliver training or handover materials to enable the internal team to maintain improvements post project.

- Proven experience in SEO and AEO, with strong technical and content optimisation skills.
- Excellent understanding of structured data, schema markup, and answer engine behaviour.
- Confident using SEO and analytics tools to audit, implement, and measure performance.
- Clear communicator: able to present insights and recommendations to non technical stakeholders.
- Available immediately for a 3 – 6 month contract (with potential to extend).

About the Role I’m partnering with a high growth SME looking for an experienced AEO Specialist to join their digital team on a 3 – 6 month contract. This is a hands on role focused on enhancing our visibility across AI powered and voice based search (Google SGE, ChatGPT, Bing Copilot) while strengthening the foundations of our technical and content SEO. You’ll lead the audit, optimisation, and implementation process using a mix of SEO and automation tools to deliver measurable results and build scalable best practices for the business.
