Key Responsibilities:
- Lead a major Active Directory review and clean-up project.
- Validate and remove stale, duplicate, and orphaned objects across the Active Directory estate.
- Distinguish between service accounts, user accounts, and legacy objects.
- Conduct investigative work to establish last logon activity and ongoing business usage.
- Engage with IT teams and managers to determine appropriate actions for each object.
- Track account activity and determine object status for clean-up actions.
Key Skills:
- Extensive hands-on experience with Active Directory analysis, administration, and optimisation in hybrid environments.
- Strong investigative and analytical skills.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Entra ID.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Strong documentation skills.
- Ability to commit to agreed turnaround times while coordinating across multiple teams.

We are supporting one of our key clients in securing an experienced Active Directory & Distribution Lists Consultant to lead a major AD programme. This contract role is offered at £500 per day, sits outside IR35, and will run for an initial 6 month term, with strong potential for extension depending on project progress.
The successful consultant will take full ownership of a large-scale Active Directory review and clean-up, focusing on validating and removing stale, duplicate and orphaned objects across the estate. This will include distinguishing between service accounts, user accounts and legacy objects, as well as conducting investigative work to establish last logon activity and ongoing business usage. The consultant will engage directly with IT teams and managers across the business to determine the appropriate course of action for each object, whether that be retention, disablement or deletion.
Extensive hands-on experience with Active Directory analysis, administration and optimisation in hybrid environments is essential, alongside strong investigative and analytical skills. The ability to track account activity, determine object status, and follow through with appropriate clean-up actions is critical. A working knowledge of Microsoft Entra ID, combined with excellent communication, stakeholder engagement and documentation skills, will also be required. You must be confident, assertive, and able to commit to agreed turnaround times while coordinating activity across multiple business teams.
