Summary: The AD and NCAP Performance and Test Engineer role involves supporting the advanced engineering of Automated Driving (AD) and New Car Assessment Program (NCAP) for a globally recognized automotive company in Cranfield. The position requires data collection, analysis, and collaboration across departments to enhance vehicle electronics and testing activities. This is a long-term contract role with potential for several years of engagement. Candidates must possess relevant qualifications and experience in automotive electronic systems and development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support AD development and gather data to define AD development scope
  • Retrofit and reprogram vehicle electronics for development tests
  • Collect data and prepare initial analysis reports
  • Facilitate alignment of specifications between various departments
  • Support NCAP activities and participate in NCAP meetings
  • Contribute to NCAP working groups and align ADAS teams on strategies
  • Manage test activities including location, schedule, and personnel
  • Travel to test sites to oversee and support testing activities
  • Prepare various reports including data collection, analysis, and NCAP results

Key Skills:

  • Degree qualified in a relevant discipline
  • Understanding of vehicle AD/ADAS systems and development
  • Fluent written and verbal English
  • Experience with software applications in vehicle ECUs
  • Ability to risk assess software modifications and develop test plans
  • Understanding of network communications (CAN, LIN, Ethernet)
  • Proficient with CANalyzer, CAPL, CANoe, CANape, Matlab or similar
  • Ability to follow system circuit diagrams
  • Practical experience in problem-solving tools and techniques
  • Valid UK driver’s license and ability to pass driver training
  • Relevant experience in automotive electronic system development
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally
  • Competent with Microsoft Office applications
  • Self-motivated, energetic, and flexible
  • Ability to prioritize and multitask
